Background
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for various components, including heat exchangers, cold plates, pumps, valves, filtration systems, and environmental control units in a government organization
- Create and maintain detailed manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions, adhering to stringent quality standards and space program regulations
- Conduct root cause analysis of manufacturing challenges and implement corrective actions to improve processes and ensure consistent quality
Requirements
- Degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in an aerospace or high-reliability industry or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify and troubleshoot manufacturing issues
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong documentation skills
Preferred
- Proven experience with thermal control systems and life support technologies
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and quality control procedures
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with manufacturing tools and techniques such as CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and precision assembly
- A strong interest in space exploration and a passion for contributing to innovative technologies
